Land for this park was donated in part by E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company. Constitution Park is home to the Waynesboro’s Farmers Market which operates every Saturday from May to October. It also hosts festivals like Riverfest and Groovin’ at the Greenway and has picnic pavilions. This site was designated as Virginia’s first Urban Trout Fishery. For gardening enthusiasts, this park is home to the Waynesboro Arboretum. The arboretum has tree collections, shrub displays, bulb plantings, annual and perennial areas.
The South River Greenway runs through Constitution Park for 2 miles along the scenic South River, a designated Virginia Scenic River. Stretching from Loth Springs Trailhead (near the YMCA) to North Park, the greenway provides an easy and enjoyable experience for walkers, runners, and cyclists with its flat terrain and smooth surface. Along the route, visitors can take in stunning views of the river, nearby parks, and mountains.
