Stone Soup Books has been bookselling in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia since 2006. For 8 years we combined our bookstore with a Café dishing up locally sourced good food on Main Street. Then we took to the road mapping new spaces for bookselling in breweries, wineries, conferences – anywhere people gathered to discuss new ideas, listen to stories. We took our love of good food back to the farm and re-discovered the joy pain of a fully harvested bean field, the sound of hawk freedom, and the good sense of muck books. In 2020, we gasped. Then following the lessons of the farm, re-rooted downtown in an industrial green space next to the South River where, whether bookselling by web or push-cart, we’re still doing it. Inspired by where we are and where we’ve been, our book specialties include farming, edible landscaping, nature writing, and spirit-filled sustainable living. Story in children’s books, history, and great fiction also fill our bookshelves. Drop in virtually for book discussions or shopping, drop by in person for pick-up or browsing our shelves and carts (currently by appointment), or drop off books anytime in our book rescue box for donation or consignment.
