Through painting, I express my feelings and perceptions of gender and how I navigate these emotions as a transgender person. I primarily work with oil paints, and use vibrant underpaintings, outlines, and rough brush marks to translate my thoughts onto the canvas. In my paintings, I document growing up queer and trans. As I delve into my childhood, I both see the genesis of my transmasculinity, as well as a contradiction to the person I am today. I reflect and react to the expectations that were placed on me to look or act a certain way, and channel my vulnerabilities and emotions I have about my body because of my identity.
